It is now time to put what you have learned into practice. You have explored background on the LGBT Rights Movement and analyzed primary sources with deep reflection. There are two activities listed below (your teacher may have you do both activities or just one) designed to facilitate application who what you have explored and analyzed.
Recall the Guiding Questions as you complete these activities.
Activity #1:
You and a partner will create a Venn Diagram using three or more spheres. One of the spheres must be dedicated to the LGBT movement. Using two or more spheres, you will analyze connections and distinctions between the LGBT movement and other rights movements from American history.
Examples: The Civil Rights movement, women's rights, immigration rights, animal rights, or any other activist movements you can think of.
Click on the button below to get started. Remember to look for both similarities and differences.

Activity #2:
You (or you and a partner/group) will make a magazine cover detailing what you have learned about the LGBT rights movement. Recall the primary source magazine covers of ONE Magazine that you examined. What types of issues did these covers present? What effects does cover layout and content have for a magazine audience? Make one magazine cover for an issue coming out in 2013 and one magazine cover for an issue coming out in 2050.
Please think about the following questions while you make your magazine covers:
What debatable issue is your magazine detailing? Does the magazine take a side? How would you distribute your magazine? Who would read this and who would not? What social attitudes and issues are at play in 2013 that your magazine should address? What social attitudes and ideas do you expect the United States to hold in 2050?
Click on the button below to begin. On the design interface, start with uploading a photo image for your magazine cover background. Add a Magazine Title, text headings, publication date, and price. Be creative and experiment with different design layouts to best convey your message. This activity will require you to be concise, but to pack a punch with what you do say.
